Clerk Stunned by Missouri Lottery Winner's Ticket

Jul. 24, 2024

A Show Me Cash player in Oronogo wasn’t aware she won a jackpot until a clerk’s reaction tipped her off.

She explained she purchased the ticket for the July 13 drawing at Brad’s Convenience Store, 1201 E. Highway 96 in Oronogo, and returned the next day to check her ticket.

"I didn't realize (I had won) until the retail clerk looked at the screen and took two steps back,” the winner shared. “Then she looked at me and looked back at the screen again, and then she motioned for her boss to come up. The boss walks up and says, 'Oh, my god.' It shocked her.”

“That's how I realized I'd won $128,000!" she laughed.

Her Show Me Cash ticket matched all five numbers drawn July 13 – 20, 29, 31, 37 and 39 – to win the jackpot prize. The prize was then claimed at the Lottery’s Springfield regional office on July 17.

Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $50,000.

Players who purchased tickets in Jasper County in FY23 won more than $15.7 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $1.5 million in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $3.4 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
