Special Numbers Lead to $62,500 Keno Win

Sarah Mitchell enjoys playing Club Keno at home and has her very own set of special numbers: 3, 6, 9, 12, 13, 27, 44, 62 and 75. They are made up of birthdays, ages and favorite numbers. But when she checked her numbers at home on March 29, she didn’t yet realize how special those numbers would be.

“I thought maybe I won $300 or $400 because I got Bulls-Eye and Double Bulls-Eye,” said the Dittmer resident. “Then, I realized I was only one number off. I thought, ‘No, I must be wrong.’”

Mitchell went back to On the Run, 7005 Old Highway 30 and Highway NN in Cedar Hill, where she purchased her Club Keno ticket, to ask the clerk to confirm her big win.

“Mary Ann said, ‘Oh, wow. It’s $62,500. You take the ticket and get out of here,’” laughed Mitchell, recalling the clerk’s advice. “But I told her, ‘I am going to give you $1,000.’”

Mitchell said she has won many times but never this big. She plans to do just as she promised and give $1,000 to the clerk. And with the rest, she would like to do some home remodeling and help out her family and community.

“It is just a thrill to get this,” said Mitchell. “It doesn’t happen every day.”

To play Club Keno, players can choose how many different numbers (also called “spots”) they want to play from 1 to 10. Twenty numbers from a field of one to 80 are chosen in a computerized random Club Keno drawing held every four minutes.
