Friends Split $61,000 Club Keno Win

Both William Mohr of O’Fallon and Richard Criswell of St. Charles enjoy playing the Missouri Lottery, but what they enjoy most is playing Club Keno together.

“When it is over $17,000 we buy a ticket together,” explained Criswell. “We play Quick Picks, the 8-spot for $30, which is 10 games, and we take the ticket with us. We don’t check the ticket until later on.”

Usually, the two friends wait to check their ticket until they are together again and back where they purchased their ticket at Playoffs Sports Bar & Grill, 2922-A Highway K, in O’Fallon. But this time was a little different. Mohr wasn’t feeling well and asked his friend to get their ticket on his own.

“The next day the bartender called me and said, ‘Somebody here hit for $61,000. And I know you guys bought an 8-spot,’” Criswell recalled. “I went back that afternoon to check and it was us.”

Their 8-spot Club Keno ticket won $61,162. Criswell immediately called Mohr to tell him he owed him $65 – $15 for his half of the ticket and $50 for half of the $100 tip they plan to give the bartender.

“It is more fun winning as friends than it is by yourself. I can tell you that,” shared Mohr.

To play Club Keno, players can choose how many different numbers (also called “spots”) they want to play from 1 to 10. Twenty numbers from a field of one to 80 are chosen in a computerized random Club Keno drawing held every four minutes.
