Fifty-four-year-old Sharon Holt of Bolivar is starting her holiday season off with a financial bang. The first-time Missouri Lottery winner collected a $32,000 prize after the Show Me Cash numbers she’d been playing for almost a year matched the winning numbers from the Oct. 30 drawing.
“I was about to have a heart attack,” Holt teased over laughter, adding that her lucky numbers are a combination of her grandchildren’s birthdates.
Holt said that the first thing she thought after realizing her numbers matched was, “Oh, Hallelujah! We’re going to have Christmas!”
“It was just a wonderful blessing. It couldn’t have come at a better time.”
Holt and her husband of 18 years are “tossing around a lot of ideas” for how to spend the prize money.
“I’d like to redo my floors in the house,” the mother-of-four and grandmother-of-six explained, noting that the prize will first go toward paying bills.
“I couldn’t be more thankful,” she shared. “It’s going to relieve some stress. It really will make a difference.”
Holt’s ticket was one of two tickets sold containing the winning number combination from the Oct. 30 drawing. Each winning ticket was worth half of the advertised jackpot of $64,000 – or $32,000 each. Holt bought her winning ticket at Fast N Friendly, 1602 E. Broadway St., in Bolivar. The other winning ticket was sold at Casey’s General Store, 1327 High St., in Sarcoxie.
Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing. Holt is the 223rd Show Me Cash winner.
