Robert Moon of Lindale, Tex., might be hundreds of miles from home, but he now has several thousand dollars to keep him company until he reunites with his family for the holidays.

The 61-year-old spent the last month working in Columbia constructing a new Panera Bread Company restaurant. During a break earlier today, he stopped at QuikTrip, 3211 Clark Lane in Columbia, where he uncovered a $4,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery “$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular” Scratchers ticket.

“I had to look a few times to make sure it was accurate,” recalled the first-time Missouri Lottery winner.

As for plans for the windfall, he’ll “probably put it in the bank.”

Moon noted that he’s looking forward to “flying back (home) tomorrow” to spend Thanksgiving with his daughter and wife of 37 years.

“When I get there, I’ll surprise them,” he beamed, referring to sharing the news with his family.

$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular” is a $20 ticket with a top prize of $4 million that officially started on Aug. 11.
