Storm Preparation Showers Riches On Affton Woman

Story Photo On Dec. 25, Phyllis Riggs was preparing for a weather forecast that included several inches of snow.  She made a trip to the store to stock up on food and supplies to last her through the storm.  While checking out, she decided to buy a Lottery ticket. She didn’t realize the purchase of a “Triple Dough” Scratchers® ticket would flood her with $30,000 in cash.

When Riggs, 61, scratched her winning ticket, she “just about lost it.”  She instantly called her friends.

“They had to talk me down.  They told me to take a deep breath,” said Riggs.

She purchased her winning ticket at Circle K, 9035 Gravois Road, in St. Louis.  After calming down, Riggs immediately went home to hide her ticket.

“I put it in a plastic baggie and hid it in the refrigerator.  That’s the safest place to hide something in case of a fire,” explained Riggs.

Riggs, an independent sales representative, will use her windfall to pay bills and take a trip to Las Vegas.  She describes the win as “a wonderful Christmas blessing.”

“Triple Dough” is a $2 ticket with a top prize of $30,000.  The game also features a doubler and tripler prize allowing players to win even more cash.
