Danny Gant of Bonne Terre likes to play the Missouri Lottery on Friday nights. He regularly plays Club Keno at the Amvets in Park Hills. Gant got to play a little more than usual during the holiday vacation, and it led to a $60,020 prize.
According to Gant, he won $1,800 playing Club Keno right after Christmas. He traveled to St. Louis to claim his prize on Jan. 2, and again stopped at Amvets, 3756 Pimville Road in Park Hills, upon his return. He bought a Quick Pick 8-Spot ticket with Bulls-Eye that resulted in the $60,020 win.
“I play whatever comes to my mind,” he explained. “I play five a lot, six, seven (spots); whatever I decide I want to play. Sometimes, I’ll play my own; sometimes I’ll just let the machine pick it.”
Gant was watching the numbers as his came up and drew the expected reaction from other patrons.
“I just looked at the buddy beside me, and I said, ‘Man, I think I just hit eight out of eight,’” he recalled. “And of course, he said, ‘Are you kidding me?’”
The 64-year-old Vietnam veteran works for the Department of Natural Resources and said the windfall would help pad his upcoming retirement. He already shared a nice dinner with his wife, Betty, and he said the remainder would probably quickly be spent.
“Pay off some credit cards, probably, and be broke again!” he joked.
He’ll likely be back for Club Keno at the Amvets on Friday night.
“Oh, yeah, definitely,” declared Gant. “It’s fun – I enjoy it.”
Club Keno is a daily Draw Game with drawings every four minutes. Players choose how many numbers, or spots, to play, and win prizes based on the play type and number of matches. Club Keno was originally only available in age-controlled environments, but now is available at any Missouri Lottery retail location as Keno To Go.
