Grandview Woman Wins $62,807 On Keno To Go
A Grandview woman’s first time playing Missouri Lottery Club Keno resulted in a $62,807 win. Jessica Long purchased a 10-Spot ticket with Double Bulls-Eye at Casey’s General Store, 6909 E. 163rd St. in Belton, on Jan. 12. She matched nine out of 10 spots in a drawing shortly thereafter to win $62,500, and other games on the multi-draw ticket added an additional $307 in prizes. She learned the next day that she had won a total of $62,807.
“My father-in-law got into a car accident, and we went up to check on him,” she began. “While we were up there, me and my husband, we decided to buy a Lottery ticket. Well, when I walked in, I decided to play Keno, and I had never played it before.”
Long answered questions from the clerk, but she was still a little confused about how to play. She ended up with ticket that was more expensive than she had originally planned, but she decided to stick with the purchase.
“I didn’t want to back out of it, because I figured if I did, it would be a winner. So I bought it,” she declared.
Call it karma – the multi-draw ticket won more than one prize in the next several minutes. Long discovered she had a winning ticket the next day, but she didn’t realize how much until she claimed it at the Kansas City Lottery office on Jan. 14.
“I thought I only had eight numbers,” she recalled. “When I got to the Lottery office, she told me how much it was. I had no idea it was that much. It was unreal.”
Long credited the win to doing something “out of the ordinary.” She was inspired by the player in front of her, who was playing Club Keno.
“My husband suggested that I should buy a Lottery ticket,” she said. “We say that when something bad happens, something good should happen. And I won.”
Long said the windfall would be used to pay down their house, and she plans to spend a little on her three children.
Long’s story had a happy ending, as her father-in-law turned out to be OK, and she won a large Keno prize.
“Try something different; don’t always play the same,” she suggested to other players.
is a daily Draw Game with drawings every four minutes. Players choose how many numbers, also called “spots,” to play and win prizes based on the number of matches. By adding Bulls-Eye and Double Bulls-Eye to the ticket, players can win even larger prizes. Originally only available in age-controlled environments, Club Keno is now available at any Missouri Lottery retail location as Keno To Go.
