Jackie Lough of Salem is looking forward to celebrating his recent $100,000 Missouri Lottery win. Not only will Lough’s windfall allow him to treat his entire family, consisting of two children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, to a lavish steak dinner, but he’s also planning on using the winnings to indulge in “some joys that you wouldn’t normally have.”

“I’ve been retired for about 12 years, so there are still a few things I’d like to do with the kids,” the 67-year-old former The Doe Run Company employee explained.

“They like the beach. They go to Gulf Shores quite a bit. So, probably this summer, we’ll go there.”

While claiming his prize at Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City, Lough recalled the moment he unveiled the prize amount on his “$1,000,000 Classic Cash” ticket at Casey’s General Store, 600 S. McArthur Ave., in Salem.

“You hand this lady $10, and you scratch a ticket off, and you get $100,000 there at one time,” he reminisced. “It’s quite a moment. It was exciting!”

He joked that he must’ve looked shocked, because a clerk asked him if he was OK.

“I never scratched one that looked like that, so I immediately became a little emotional,” he shared.

After catching his breath, Lough received congratulatory hugs and handshakes from fellow patrons before heading home.

“I think I finally went to sleep about 4 a.m., because you’re running all these things through your head,” he said.

Lough summed up his Lottery-winning experience by declaring how “thankful” he feels.

“I’ve had a good life, and this is just icing on the cake,” he concluded.

$1,000,000 Classic Cash” is a $10 ticket with a top prize of $1 million. To date, all four top prizes, as well as thousands of prizes ranging from $10 to $100,000, remain in play.
