Lake Ozark Winner Surprised by $4,000 Lottery Prize

Story Photo audio icon Call it divine intervention or something else entirely, but Ruth Hall of Lake Ozark credits a gut feeling as the catalyst that led her to a $4,000 Missouri Lottery prize.

“Something just told me to stop in there,” revealed 64-year-old Hall, referring to an unusual pit stop she and husband, Scott, made at Temp Stop, 7 Acorn Road, in Eldon. “I had to get gas anyway, but I usually don’t stop there.”

Hall explained that she’d “won some other little tickets,” so she traded in her $24 in winnings for 12 “24K” Scratchers tickets.

After scratching “very slowly,” Hall said Scott declared that she’d probably won $4. The pair was pleasantly surprised to discover they’d missed some zeros.

As for plans for the windfall, after taking care of practical expenses, like paying bills and car insurance premiums, the couple plan to “just enjoy the rest of it.”

24K” is a $2 Scratchers game with a top prize of $24,000.
