Lottery Lightning Strikes Again for a Missouri Family
If the last name Schnieders sounds familiar, it might be because Roger Schnieders has been in the news before for winning millions of dollars from the Missouri Lottery. Good fortune must run in the family, because on Feb. 19, another Schnieders made headlines for collecting a $20,000 prize. This time, the lucky winner is 60-year-old Dale Schnieders of Jefferson City, who had a message for his little brother after uncovering his win.
“There’s one out there you didn’t get,” Dale declared to Roger over the phone, teasing him that for once, he was the one holding a winning ticket.
Roger’s family deemed him the luckiest of the nine Schnieders’ siblings after a string of Lottery wins, including a $3 million prize in 2009, a $50,000 prize in 2007 and a handful of $1,000 prizes over the years.
Dale joked that he hasn’t won nearly as much as his brother, but he hopes to catch up.
As for plans for the windfall, Dale and his wife, Brenda, who will celebrate 40 years of marriage in October, plan to use the winnings to continue restoration of their farmhouse.
Additionally, the tree service contractor said the prize will enable him to hang up his shears for good.
“I’m looking forward to retirement at the end of the year, so it will help a lot on that,” he explained.
Dale purchased his winning “$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular” Scratchers ticket at Stadium Phillips 66, 718 W. Stadium Blvd., in Jefferson City.
“$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular
,” a $20 ticket with a top prize of $4 million, officially started on Aug. 11, 2012.
