An impromptu stop on the way home from lunch gifted an Auxvasse husband and wife with a $5,000 win on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers game. Sarah Milne, 28, claimed the couple’s prize on a “Deuces Wild” ticket at Lottery headquarters shortly after making the lucky purchase.
Explaining that she and her husband, James, have a system for Scratchers purchases, Milne noted that they “always buy the newest tickets.” On this particular visit, they bought 10 tickets.
“He gets the first half, and I get the second half,” she said, describing their scratching technique.
The first of her husband’s tickets produced a $5 win, and the second contained the $5,000 prize.
“So, I knew I wasn’t going to win on mine,” she teased, smiling and concluding that, from now on, she should get to scratch the first half.
According to Milne, plans for the unexpected pay day are already underway.
“We’re going to give $1,000 to my parents, because they’ve helped us so much,” she said. “Then we’re going to give $100 to the gentleman that sold us the ticket, and my kids will probably take the rest.”
The Milnes bought their winning “Deuces Wild” ticket at Fast Lane McStop, 3259 County Road 11, in Kingdom City. The $2 game officially began on March 11.
