Maryville Man Uses Power Play to Increase His Powerball Payout

Story Photo

The decision to spend an extra $1 to add Power Play® to a Powerball® ticket paid off four times over for 56-year-old Robert Hackney of Maryville. The lucky Missouri Lottery player collected a $40,000 prize for matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball on April 3. Had Hackney not elected to use Power Play, he would’ve won $10,000.

Hackney bought his winning Quick Pick ticket at Pilot Travel Center, 1475 Thornton St., in Pacific. The winning numbers were:  1, 6, 8, 12, 35, and the Powerball was 3.

Powerball is a $2 per play multi-lottery Draw Game that features jackpots starting at $40 million. Drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. The optional $1 Power Play feature can increase a player’s original prize amount from $4 to $1 million.

The largest Powerball jackpot to date was $587.5 million on Nov. 28, 2012. The jackpot was split by two ticketholders – one in Missouri and one in Arizona.
