The first top prize awarded in the new Missouri Lottery game, $250K Triple Play, was sold in a federal building in downtown St. Louis. Deidra Kemp, 41, said she buys a ticket for several different Draw Games about once a pay period, and when the clerk told her about the new game, she added it to her purchase. She found out later in the week that she held the $250,000 winning ticket from the very first drawing, which was Feb. 26.
Kemp works as a system analyst in the Robert A. Young Federal Building. She routinely buys tickets from “At Your Convenience,” 1222 Spruce St. in St. Louis, which is a small convenience store in that building. Word was circling that a $250,000 winning ticket was sold there.
“It was just buzzing around the building where I work,” explained Kemp. “I went upstairs and checked it, and mine was it. I was happy.”
Kemp said her co-workers were excited, screaming and exchanging high-fives while she remained “low-key.”
“I was just trying to take it all in,” she recalled.
She didn’t offer any big plans for the windfall, although she and her husband, Phillip, are planning a second honeymoon to Paris later this year.
“We’re going to do a little travel, and then some investing,” she said. “Get a bigger place.”
She had good things to say about the new Missouri Lottery game, $250K Triple Play.
“I think it’s pretty awesome,” Kemp beamed. “I’ll have to start buying that every week, too.”
