A retired Kansas City resident said he couldn’t wait for his wife to wake up on the morning of Dec. 24 so he could tell her he’d won a Show Me Cash jackpot prize. The win came on a Quick Pick ticket he purchased at Casey’s, 10751 N. Oak Trafficway, in Kansas City.
The winner, a daily Show Me Cash player, explained the day had started out like any other.
“I check your website every morning,” he told Lottery officials. “I grab my coffee and that’s one of the first things I check is the Missouri Lottery.”
This time, however, he was greeted with a set of winning Show Me Cash numbers that matched all five numbers on his ticket for the Dec. 23 drawing – 1, 4, 12, 22 and 32.
He was “really quite surprised” and eager to share the news with his wife.
“I waited until she got up because she gets up like two hours after I do. But I just couldn’t wait for her to get out of bed,” he laughed.
His ticket was one of two jackpot winning tickets on Dec. 23. The other winning ticket was sold in Kennett, and the two ticket holders will split the $102,000 jackpot equally.
Show Me Cash is a daily Draw Game, which offers jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s Show Me Cash jackpot is estimated at $73,000.
In FY24, Missouri Lottery players in Clay County won more than $29.6 million in prizes, retailers received more than $3.1 million in commissions and bonuses for selling Missouri Lottery games, and more than $10.1 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
