Curiosity Lands Missouri Lottery Player $4 Million Scratchers Prize

Feb. 14, 2025

While browsing the Scratchers tickets at QuikTrip, 9600 N. Oak Trafficway in Kansas City, a Missouri Lottery player spotted a “$100 Million Cash Bonanza” ticket he had noticed before but had never played. The decision to buy one proved to be a lucky one.

“I was visiting a friend, and I just stopped in there and decided to buy a ticket,” he said. “I’d seen that one before and just decided to finally play it.”

Once he scratched off the ticket, he was shocked to see he had uncovered one of the game’s $4 million top prizes.

“I was just like, ‘This isn’t real. This isn’t real,” he said. “I pulled out my phone and started Googling what I should do next!”

After he called his financial advisor and scheduled his appointment to claim the prize at the Missouri Lottery’s Kansas City regional office, he said the excitement nearly made him feel sick.

“I was just trying to keep my breakfast down!” he laughed. “I thought I would take it in and they would tell me I won like $100.”

So far, “$100 Million Cash Bonanza” players have won over $95.8 million in prizes playing the $20 game. There are currently over $16.8 million in unclaimed prizes, including another top prize of $4 million and four prizes of $100,000.

In FY24, players in Clay County won more than $29.6 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $3.1 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $10.1 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
