Good fortune followed a Missouri Lottery player when the vending machine at Dierbergs, 6211 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Peters, was temporarily out of his favorite Scratchers game.
“I usually play the same ticket, but they were out of that one so I picked a different game to play,” the winner said of the “$1,000,000 Winnings” Scratchers ticket he then purchased.
Luck was in his favor because the ticket contained one of the game’s five $50,000 prizes.
“I couldn’t believe it when I got home,” he said. “I called my wife downstairs to show her what we had won.”
He added the couple is already planning to update their bathroom, using the prize money to cover the cost of the renovation.
To date, “$1,000,000 Winnings” players have won over $14 million in prizes playing the $10 game. Over $19.8 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including a top prize of $1 million and two additional prizes of $50,000.
In FY24, players in St. Charles County won more than $68.2 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $6.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $16.5 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
