While looking at Scratchers tickets at Casey’s, 2415 W. Main St. in Unionville, a Missouri Lottery player picked out a “$5,000,000 Fortune” game.

“I had been looking on my phone, and I saw that game had a lot of big prizes left so that’s the one I went with,” the player said, referring to the Lottery’s app feature detailing estimated unclaimed prizes.

He scratched the ticket when he got home and had a hard time believing his eyes as he uncovered bigger and bigger prizes.

“He was in the kitchen and I was in the living room, and he kept running around to tell me what he had won,” his wife said.

In total, the prizes on his ticket added up to a $50,000 win.

“He had me look at it to make sure he was reading it right,” she joked.

So far, “$5,000,000 Fortune” players have won over $68.9 million in prizes playing the $50 game. There are currently over $183.6 million in unclaimed prizes, including two top prizes of $5 million and three $1 million prizes.

In FY24, players in Putnam County won more than $533,000 in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $55,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $137,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
