A Missouri Lottery player had his My Lottery® Players Club account on his mind as he looked at Scratchers tickets at Dierbergs, 2516 Lemay Ferry Drive, in St. Louis.
“I always put my tickets into my account, and then I get the points and exchange them for prizes,” the winner said, referring to the Lottery’s free rewards program.
With that in mind, he picked out a “Diamonds & Gold” ticket and began scratching it off, unaware he was about to become a millionaire.
“I was looking at it, and I thought it was $50,000 at first,” he said. “I showed it to my wife and she said that I needed to take it up to get it checked.”
He took the ticket to the cashier and was shocked to learn he had actually won one of the game’s top prizes of $2 million.
“I didn’t believe it! I still didn’t believe it!” he said.
So far, “Diamonds & Gold” players have won over $5 million in prizes playing the $20 game since it was released on Dec. 30. There are currently over $45.8 million in unclaimed prizes, including another top prize of $2 million and four $100,000 prizes.
In FY24, players in St. Louis County won more than $200.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $19.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $161.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
