A husband-and-wife pair of Missouri Lottery players were in shock when they found out their “100X The Money” Scratchers ticket held a $50,000 prize.
The wife shared with Lottery officials how her husband came to make the lucky purchase at Dirt Cheap 102 McDonald Lane, in O’Fallon.
“He normally plays the $5 tickets, but since he had won $20 that morning, he decided to try his luck on one of the $10 tickets,” she explained.
“I couldn’t believe it,” she said, describing the moment her husband showed her the winning ticket. “He said, ‘It’s true, we won!’”
Even after claiming their prize at the Lottery’s St. Louis regional office, the experience was still a bit surreal.
“It still doesn’t seem real, like it’s a dream,” she added. “Maybe we will ‘wake up’ when the money hits the bank account!”
Players have won more than $24.7 million in prizes since the “100X The Money” Scratchers game was released. More than $9.9 million prizes remain unclaimed, including a $1 million top prize and an additional $50,000 prize.
In FY24, players in St. Charles County won more than $68.2 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $6.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $16.5 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
