While shopping at Walmart, 2150 Main St. in Boonville, a Missouri Lottery player spotted the new holiday-themed Scratchers games and decided to take a chance on a “Holiday Ice” ticket.
“It was a new ticket, so this was my first time playing it,” the winner shared.
As he began scratching the ticket, he uncovered several sleigh “WIN” symbols – with his prize amount growing with each reveal. By the time he finished playing the game, his grand total was $50,000. He said he was in shock when he called his daughter to share the news.
“I didn’t believe it,” his daughter chuckled. “He had called before that and told me he had won $1,000 on a different ticket.”
The winner, accompanied by his daughter, claimed both prizes at Lottery Headquarters in Jefferson City on Oct. 30.
Players of the “Holiday Ice” game have won over $5.9 million since the game was released. Over $18.8 million in prizes remain unclaimed, including both $300,000 top prizes and two more $50,000 prizes.
In FY24, players in Cooper County won more than $2.9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $304,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $679,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
