A Missouri Lottery player said he was feeling lucky when he purchased several “20X Crossword” Scratchers tickets at QuikTrip, 6551 E. Front St., in Kansas City. At the time, he didn’t realize just how lucky one of those tickets would turn out to be.
While he was happy to see a prize large enough to claim at a Missouri Lottery office, nothing prepared him for the news he received at the Lottery’s Kansas City Regional Office on Nov. 27.
“I couldn’t believe it,” the winner said. “I thought I won $10,000 and didn’t know I actually won $100,000 until they told me!”
The winner shared plans to use the money to start a small business.
Players of the “20X Crossword” game have won over $11.9 million in prizes since the $5 game was released in April. Over $5.1 million prizes remain in unclaimed prizes, including two additional $100,000 prizes.
In FY24, players in Jackson County won more than $109.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $9.8 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $22 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
