A Missouri Lottery player in Clay County said he felt like he was “walking on air” when he discovered he won $222,000 in the March 4 Show Me Cash drawing.
He bought the winning ticket at Price Chopper, 207 N.E. Englewood Road, in Kansas City. The ticket contained the night’s winning numbers of 5, 21, 25, 26 and 28.
He first realized he had won when he scanned the ticket using the Missouri Lottery app. He then took it back to Price Chopper and had it checked there to tell him how much he’d won.
“I said, ‘Can you scan this for me? I can’t quite figure out what’s going on,’” the winner shared.
The clerk scanned the ticket and proceeded to tell him that he was going to be happy.
“I know where your office is at in Independence,” the winner laughed after sharing he had to use GPS to get to the office due to his excitement. “I know where it’s at. I was so, like, walking on air.”
The winner shared that the overall experience was a “cool experience.”
“I told them for a lot of people it may not be a big deal, but for me it was life changing,” he said.
Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m. Tonight’s estimated jackpot is $278,000.
In FY23, players in Clay County won more than $27.9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received over $3 million in commissions and bonuses, while more than $12.6 million went to education programs in the county.
