With the claiming of a $5 million prize on the “Millionaire Blowout” Scratchers game, the Missouri Lottery has officially made 700 Lottery millionaires since sales began in 1986.
The winning ticket was purchased at Stateline Liquor, 20925 State Highway 59 in Noel, when the player stopped in as part of his normal routine.
“I usually play those and just pray to win,” the winner joked.
He said upon scratching off the ticket, he had trouble understanding what he was seeing.
“I had to scan the ticket a couple of times at the store because I couldn’t believe it,” he laughed.
Once he confirmed it was real, he told his wife about the life-changing prize.
“She was super excited,” he said.
Of the 700 prizes of $1 million or more claimed by Missouri Lottery players to date, 237 have been Scratchers prizes. Together, they total over $478 million. Overall, Missouri Lottery millionaire winners have won over $3.8 billion in prizes … and counting.
In FY23, players in McDonald County won more than $4.6 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $478,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $633,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
