While many lottery players check their tickets immediately, the winner of a $50,000 Powerball prize in St. Louis County didn’t know she had won – that is, until she went to buy a ticket the following month.
“I buy a ticket once a month, and it lasts for the entire month,” the winner explained.
She shared that from that drawing to when she went to buy the next month’s ticket, she had not known she held a winning ticket.
“I did not know I won until I went the next month,” she shared, saying that she felt shocked at first.
The winning ticket was purchased for the Feb. 12 drawing at Gas Mart, 9765 Mackenzie Road, in Affton. The winning numbers that night were 17, 36, 43, 53 and 67, with a Powerball of 14.
Plans for her winnings include paying bills and putting the money into a savings account.
