A ordinary breakfast was turned on its head when a Missouri Lottery player won a $50,000 prize on a “500X” Scratchers ticket.
“My boyfriend and I usually get some tickets and scratch them and eat breakfast,” the winner explained.
They had no idea the ticket she had purchased at Pilot Travel Center, 700 S. State Route J in Peculiar, contained one of 50 $50,000 prizes offered in the game.
“I was just like, ‘Oh, my god!” she shared. “We were shaking. We couldn’t eat!”
They both scrambled to check the numbers, not trusting what they were seeing.
“We just couldn’t believe it,” she added.
“500X” players have won more than $128.3 million in prizes since the $50 game was released. Over $129.3 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including a top prize of $5 million, two prizes of $1 million and 26 additional prizes of $50,000.
In FY23, players in Cass County won more than $15.9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $1.6 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $4.9 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
