A shopper at Harps Food Stores, 705 Kentucky Ave. in West Plains, left the store a $50,000 winner after purchasing a Missouri Lottery “500X” Scratchers ticket.
“I usually play the $50 games because I think you have a better chance to win bigger prizes,” the winner said.
She scratched off the ticket while she was still in the store, shocked to uncover a $50,000 prize.
“I kept having to look at all the zeros,” she said. “I think I screamed in the grocery store!”
The winner plans to use the money to finish a remodeling project she had started on her home.
To date, players have won over $177.3 million playing “500X”. Currently, over $80.3 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including 18 more $50,000 prizes and a $5 million top prize.
Players who purchased tickets in Howell County in FY24 won more than $7.8 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $677,000 in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $920,000 in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
