A daily stop for a Missouri Lottery player resulted in a $50,000 win when he purchased a “500X” Scratchers ticket at Midwest Petroleum, 12150 Missouri Bottom Road, in Hazelwood.
“I go there every day,” the winner shared. “Every day … I go purchase my ticket.”
His first reaction when he scratched the ticket off and saw the “500X” symbol was to show his wife.
“I kind of fist-pumped in the store and said, ‘Yes!’” he laughed. “I was very excited.”
His wife didn’t believe him at first, but then she asked to make sure he had signed the ticket.
“Actually, I had not signed it. I signed it in front of her,” he said.
The winner shared that his plans for the money include replacing the roof on his house.
“500X” is a $50 Scratchers game with more than $156.5 million in unclaimed prizes remaining, including a $5 million top prize, two $1 million second prizes, and 31 $50,000 prizes.
Players can enter their eligible “500X” tickets into their My Lottery® Players Club accounts for a chance to win $500 cash in the next monthly “Scratch Big, Win Big!” drawing.
In FY23, players in St. Louis County won more than $207.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received over $20 million in commissions and bonuses, while more than $76 million went to education programs in the area.
