While about a third of Missouri Lottery Club Keno players use Quick Pick to select their numbers, a player in Crawford County used his own special numbers – and won $126,563 doing so.
The winning ticket was purchased at Frisco’s Grill and Pub, 121 S. Smith St in Cuba, for a drawing on Sept. 23, 2023, but the winner waited to claim the prize until mid-February.
He said he has always played the same set of numbers for sentimental reasons.
“They are some of the old ball players’ numbers from when I was growing up,” he said.
When he and his wife realized they had won, they were in shock.
“At first, we didn’t even see it, you know, ‘cause we were eating,” he shared.
The 8-Spot ticket matched eight of the Club Keno numbers drawn to win a base prize of $10,000. Since he also chose to add the Double Bulls-Eye play option, that prize was increased to $125,000. The rest of the prize total was a result of Keno’s Progressive Jackpot feature for top-prize wins on 6-, 7- and 8-Spot games.
Club Keno is a fast-paced Draw Game, with drawings held every four minutes. The game can be played at a wide variety of establishments such as restaurants, bars, fraternal organizations, convenience stores, grocery stores and similar Missouri Lottery retailers.
In FY23, players in Crawford County won more than $3.6 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, while retailers received over $363,000 in commissions and bonuses. More than $1 million went to education programs in the county.
