Calculator Needed to Add $50,000 Prize

Nov. 18, 2024

The recently released Missouri Lottery “Christmas Countdown” Scratchers ticket caught the eye of a customer while she and her husband were shopping at Harps Food Store, 50 Berry Road, in Bonne Terre.

She was in total disbelief when the ticket revealed a series of prizes that added up to $50,000.

“I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I even took out my calculator to add up the prizes!”

After making sure she really had the correct number of zeros, she showed her husband the winning ticket.

“He didn’t believe it either,” she added. “He went back in to the store to scan the ticket to make sure we won!”

The couple shared their plans to use some of the winnings toward a vacation they already had planned.

Since the release of the $10 “Christmas Countdown” game in October, players have won over $4.1 million in prizes.  Over $12.5 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including two top prizes of $200,000 and three additional $50,000 prizes.

In FY24, players in St. Francois County won more than $12.4 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $1.2 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $2.7 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
