Celebration Turns into $77,688 Keno Prize

A pair of friends were celebrating the results of a football game at Schultz and Dooley’s, 2210 W. Chesterfield Blvd. in Springfield, when they decided to purchase a Missouri Lottery Club Keno ticket in mid-January.

“We were celebrating the Chiefs’ win over the Miami Dolphins, and we decided to buy one,” one of the winners shared.

After the drawing, her friend got up to go scan the ticket, and she was confused when he didn’t come back right away.

“He just stood there for a while and then he turned around and mouthed, ‘It says claim at Lottery office,’” she said. “I didn’t think anything of it until he had the bartender run it.”

She admits she wasn’t wearing her glasses at the time and originally thought they had won a $7,000 prize.

“I squinted, and I was like, ‘Oh my, it’s way more than that!’” she recalled.

Their 8-Spot ticket matched eight of the numbers drawn to win a base prize of $10,000.  They also played the Bulls-Eye feature, which took the prize up to $50,000. Because Club Keno also adds an additional Progressive Jackpot prize to any top-prize wins on 6-, 7- or 8- Spot games, the final prize amount came in at $ 77,688.

She added that her friend kept a much more level head about their win.

“I told him I was going to cry, and he was just like, “No, don’t cry! We’ve got to go put this ticket somewhere safe!’” she laughed.

Club Keno drawings are held every four minutes. The game is available at social environment locations like restaurants, bars and fraternal organizations, and it can also be played at convenience stores, grocery stores and similar Missouri Lottery retail locations.

In FY23, players in Greene County won more than $50 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $4.5 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $27.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
