A “$2,000,000 Sizzling Riches” Scratchers ticket purchased at Hot Spot, 320 N. Osage Blvd. in Nevada, held a surprise for both the player and the clerk when it revealed one of the game’s second-tier prizes of $100,000.
"I only scratched the bottom (barcode) of the ticket and had the clerk scan it,” the winner recalled. “She scanned the ticket and said, ‘You’re not going to believe this!’
"I was really surprised when she told me," he laughed. "I waited till later to scratch it because I wanted to see how I'd won. All the numbers matched!"
He shared plans to use some of the winnings to purchase a house.
In FY23, players in Vernon County won more than $3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received over $310,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $395,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
