Greene County Lottery Player Wins $50,000 Prize on Favorite Ticket

A Missouri Lottery Scratchers player won a $50,000 top prize on his game of choice when he purchased a “Crossword Xtreme” ticket at Kum & Go, 777 E. Battlefield St., in Springfield.

“Anytime I play, it’s usually that game,” he said. “I like it because it takes me a while to play one ticket.”

Once he began scratching off the ticket’s play area, he realized he was seeing more words than normal. It was something he was happy to see in a game where the prize increases with each word scratched and matched.

“I started counting them up and realized that was the most words I’ve ever gotten on one of these tickets,” he said. “Then I realized it was the $50,000 prize!”

He added that he already has plans for his winnings.

“We have a family vacation we’re planning, so this will help with the payment for that,” he shared.

“Crossword Xtreme” is a $3 Scratchers ticket, with prizes ranging from $3 up to top prizes of $50,000. So far, players have won more than $6.7 million in the game. More than $9.2 million remains in unclaimed prizes, including six more $50,000 prizes.

In FY23, players in Greene County won more than $50 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $4.5 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $27.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
