A Missouri Lottery player in Callaway County is still feeling the excitement after winning a $61,000 Show Me Cash jackpot in the April 26 drawing.
The player bought the ticket at Break Time, 163 W. Simon Blvd. in Holts Summit, and hand-picked his own numbers. He matched all five winning numbers drawn – 7, 11, 21, 24 and 39, to win the jackpot prize.
“I look at numbers. I watch them a lot. It’s like, ‘Wow, that was close. That was close,’” the winner shared, explaining his process for picking numbers. “I just changed those numbers March 24.”
His wife added they were in bed when he checked his phone and saw the night’s winning numbers.
“He started getting dressed, and it kind of woke me up,” she said. “He was getting dressed to go outside. I’m like, ‘Where’re you going?’”
He had gone out to get the ticket, coming back to then have his wife and daughter double-check and triple-check the ticket.
“Then we couldn’t sleep the rest of the night,” the wife laughed.
Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59, offering jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until the jackpot is won. Tonight’s estimated jackpot $50,000.
In FY23, players in Callaway County won more than $8.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes while retailers received more than $789,000 in commissions and bonuses. More than $1.8 million went to educational programs in the county.
