The purchase of a “Super Cash Bonanza” Scratchers ticket at Amerimart, 601 N. Douglas in Malden, turned into a $2 million prize for a lucky couple in Dunklin County.
“I play that ticket all the time,” the husband said.
After he scratched off the ticket, he quickly realized it contained a top prize and immediately called his wife.
“He called me at work and said, ‘I don’t want you to wreck your car, but I think I won $2 million,’” she said.
Luckily, she was sitting at her desk at the time, so it wasn’t a problem – though she admits she was shocked.
“I just said, ‘Get out of here!’” she laughed.
In FY23, players in Dunklin County won more than $8.4 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $825,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $702,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
