A Missouri Lottery player in Festus stopped for gas and decided to buy a Show Me Cash jackpot ticket while he was there. The decision resulted in a $400,000 jackpot win.
“I play Lotto twice every week and Show Me Cash every once in a while,” he explained. “I just happened to see how high (the Show Me Cash jackpot) had gotten, so I bought a $5 Quick Pick ticket.”
His ticket, purchased at On the Run, 620 Truman Blvd. in Festus, matched all five numbers drawn on April 20. The winning numbers that night were 12, 17, 23, 31 and 34.
After checking the winning numbers, he shared the good news with his wife and daughter.
"They said, ‘What?!’’ he laughed. “This don't ever happen to me. They wanted to see the ticket!”
Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $50,000.
Players who purchased tickets in Jefferson County in FY23 won more than $40.2 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $4 million in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $4.7 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
