Pit Stop Turns into $50,000 Powerball Prize

Jan. 18, 2024

A truck driver won a $50,000 Powerball prize in the Dec. 13 drawing thanks to a break at Pilot Travel Center, 1701 Highway 84 E., in Hayti.

“I stopped by the truck stop and grabbed a Quick Pick,” he said.

“I was excited! But I was also so close to hitting the big one,” he joked, explaining he’d matched four out of five white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball number. “I was one number off!”

He claimed his $50,000 prize at the Lottery’s St. Louis regional office on Jan. 11 and plans to use the winnings to help expand his business.

The winning numbers on Dec. 13 were 3, 8, 41, 56 and 64 with a Powerball number of 18.

Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.

In FY23, players in Pemiscot County won more than $5.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $587,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $93,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
