A Powerball player in St. Louis County who uses the same set of numbers each time he plays – a mixture of special dates and birthdates – won a $100,000 Powerball Power Play prize in the April 10 drawing.
“I knew I had won something since I matched the Powerball, but wasn’t sure what,” he explained. “The reaction at the store where I checked the ticket was priceless. The clerk scanned the ticket and then had to ask their coworkers, 'Am I reading this right?'”
His ticket matched not only the Powerball, but also four of the five white-ball numbers, to win a $50,000 prize. Because he also played the Power Play option, the prize was instantly doubled to $100,000 when the Power Play number drawn was 2. The winning numbers on April 10 were 6, 7, 12, 24 and 36, with a Powerball number of 15.
“We are setting aside some of the money for special things,” he shared when asked if he had plans for the winnings.
The winning ticket was purchased at Country Club Express Wash, 17195 Chesterfield Airport Road in Chesterfield, and the prize was claimed at the Lottery’s St. Louis office on April 29.
Powerball is a $2 per play multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. Wednesday’s jackpot is an estimated $59 million.
Players who purchased tickets in St. Louis County in FY23 won more than $207.7 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers in the county received more than $20 million in commissions and bonuses, and education programs received more than $76 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
