Two winning Scratchers tickets, each worth $50,000, were sold at Pilot Travel Centers, 700 S. State Route J, in Peculiar. Both prizes were claimed on June 26 in the Missouri Lottery’s regional office in Kansas City.
"I scratched the prize and I saw $50,000. I said, 'I think I'm seeing things,'” one of the winners recalled after uncovering a top prize in the “Treasure Hunt” Scratchers game.
“I checked it three different times myself and then I ran to my foreman. He scanned it with the (Missouri Lottery) mobile app, and it said, ‘Congratulations!’ I knew then that I had a winner."
Another Scratchers player in Peculiar who purchased a “500X” ticket at Pilot Travel Centers discovered they won $50,000 while enjoying breakfast.
“I was just like, ‘Oh, my god!” the winner shared. “We were shaking. We couldn’t eat!”
In FY23, players in Cass County won more than $15.9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $1.6 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $4.9 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
