A Quick Pick ticket purchased at Alta Convenience, 2140 Terra Lane in O’Fallon, matched four out of five white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball number drawn, to win a $50,000 prize in the July 17 drawing – a fact the Missouri Lottery player who bought the ticket wouldn’t realize for some time.
“He never checks his tickets right away,” the winner’s wife shared. “He always just carries them around and then checks them weeks later.”
When he finally checked the ticket, he realized he probably shouldn’t have waited.
“He told me he won $50,000, and I didn’t believe him. He was shaking!” his wife added. “He’s going to retire soon, so that will go into his retirement fund.”
The winning numbers for July 17 were 24, 27, 32, 47 and 66, with a Powerball number of 26.
Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.
