A Missouri Lottery player in Sullivan uncovered the first top prize in the “$2,000,000 Extreme Cash” Scratchers game.
“I choose (tickets) by how they look. It was the color of this ticket,” the winner explained of her game selection.
After scratching the ticket, she was shocked to realize she’d won a $2 million prize.
“I sat in my car in disbelief, in tears,” she recalled. “I went to show my daughter the ticket and she said, ‘We better scan it!’ So we did, and it told us to claim the prize at a Lottery office.”
So far, players have won over $11.5 million in prizes in the “$2,000,000 Extreme Cash” Scratchers game. Three second-prizes of $100,000 and one additional $2 million top prize remain unclaimed.
"I'm going to keep it hush-hush, she shared when asked about plans for her winnings. “I'm going to continue to work and do what I'm doing, just maintain until I wrap my head around this."
The winning ticket was sold at Bugzy’s, 116 S. Service Road, in Sullivan.
It’s not the only big win in Franklin County this summer. Another Missouri Lottery player won $3 million on a “$3,000,000 Spectacular” Scratchers ticket purchased in St. Clair in June.
In FY23, players in Franklin County won more than $31.4 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.1 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $5.7 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
