While chatting with the clerk at State Line BP, 13015 State Line Road in Kansas City, a Missouri Lottery player realized the Powerball “Jackpot Reset” promotion was active, offering a free $2 Powerball ticket with a qualifying purchase. It was a conversation that would lead to a $50,000 prize on June 12.
“We were talking about that, and I said, ‘Go ahead and give me one,” he shared.
The Powerball “Jackpot Reset” promotion kicks in every time the Powerball jackpot is hit. Since the jackpot had been won on June 10, the promotion was active through June 17.
Because the player chose to add the Double Play feature to his qualifying three-play purchase, his original Powerball numbers were also entered in the Double Play drawing held after the main drawing.
When he checked his numbers the following day, he was shocked to find he had won a $50,000 Double Play prize for matching four white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball.
“I never would have gotten that ticket if I wasn’t talking to that clerk,” he said.
The winning Double Play numbers on June 12 were 12, 13, 59, 68 and 69, with a Powerball number of 13.
Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.
In FY23, players in Jackson County won more than $108.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $9.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $15.5 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
