A long-time Missouri Lottery player realized he had won a $100,000 Powerball prize by visiting the Missouri Lottery’s website at MOLottery.com.
“I usually check the website and look under the unclaimed tickets,” the winner said. “If the gas station where I buy the tickets, you know, says there’s a winner, that’s when I’ll check my tickets at home.”
The player purchased the winning Powerball ticket at Rush Hour, 1101 E. 171st St. in Belton, for the May 1 drawing. The winning numbers that night were 1, 11, 19, 21 and 68 with a Powerball of 15. He matched four of the five white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball, for a $50,000 prize. Because he also played the Power Play option, he doubled his win to $100,000 when the Power Play number drawn was 2.
The winner shared his plans to use the money to travel.
Powerball is a $2 multi-state Draw Game drawn on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:59 p.m. Saturday’s jackpot is an estimated $77 million.
