Playing a Missouri Lottery “$100,000 Super Crossword” Scratchers ticket resulted in a $100,000 top prize for a husband and wife in Phelps County.
“I was going to work, and I stopped by and got two,” the wife explained. “I like playing those tickets.”
She purchased the tickets at Spurgeon’s 66 Service, 304 N. Jefferson St. in St. James, later taking them home and giving one to her husband. She scratched the other one off herself.
“Her ticket was a $20 winner and mine was the $100,000 one,” her husband teased. “So, a little bit more!”
Neither of them could believe how much they had won at first.
“I was like, ‘Is it real?’” he said. “It’s just hard to believe!”
Once it sunk in, his wife’s thoughts turned to how they could best use the money.
“We’re going to pay off our mortgage!” she shared.
“$100,000 Super Crossword” is a $5 game that offers prizes up to $100,000. So far players have won over $12 million on the game and over $5 million remain in unclaimed prizes.
