A last-minute decision to purchase a couple of Scratchers tickets in Clay County ended with a visit to a Missouri Lottery regional office to claim a $50,000 prize.
“I went to get a Powerball ticket but ended up getting two Scratchers tickets instead,” the winner shared. “I saw them and thought, ‘Well, that’s a new ticket I haven’t seen yet.”
Both of the “$1,000,000 Cash Craze” Scratchers tickets he purchased at QuikTrip, 1401 Armour Road in North Kansas City, turned out to be winners.
“I won $20 on the first ticket, and on the second one I won $50,000. I kind of forgot about the $20 winner all of a sudden!” he laughed.
“My knees were shaking. I always heard about winners and the first thing you want to do is sign your ticket,” he explained. “I didn’t have a pen, so I ran out to my truck and locked the doors.”
The winner shared plans to use some of the winnings to take a trip to Europe.
