A Missouri Lottery player in St. Louis saw a $500 prize turn into a $50,000 prize after further reviewing her “Crossword Xtreme” Scratchers ticket.
“I thought I won $500, so I had my boyfriend check it out,” the winner explained. “Then I looked over his shoulder and said, ‘Wait – I think I missed two letters.’”
Those two extra letters on the “Crossword Xtreme” ticket resulted in her uncovering a total of 11 words and, ultimately winning one of the game’s 11 top prizes.
“I said to him, ‘Pretty sure I just won $50,000!’” she laughed. “I was going to be happy with $500.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Schnucks Market, 5434 Southfield Center., in St. Louis.
“Crossword Xtreme” is a $3 Scratchers game currently offering over $9.6 million in unclaimed prizes, including seven additional top prizes of $50,000.
