A total of 45 winning tickets worth $1 million or more were purchased by Missouri Lottery players in 2023.
“It’s pretty exciting to realize we averaged a new millionaire every 8.1 days last year,” said Lester Elder, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “It was a big year for our players.”
Twenty-six of the wins came from Scratchers tickets, with prizes that ranged from $1 million to $5 million. The remaining 19 were Draw Games tickets – seven from Powerball, seven from Mega Millions, four from Missouri Lotto, and one from Cash4Life – with prizes ranging from $1 million to $4.5 million.
These life changing winning tickets were sold at retail locations across the state in the following counties: Boone, Callaway, Cape Girardeau, Dent, DeKalb, Greene, Henry, Howell, Jackson, Laclede, Lincoln, Linn, Maries, Moniteau, Morgan, Pike, Platte, Saline, St. Charles, St. Clair, St. Louis City, St. Louis County, Taney and Washington.
Elder also shared that big wins were not limited to new millionaires, with 251 tickets resulting in prizes between $50,000 and $1 million last year, too.
“Overall, there were a total of 296 players who won $50,000 or more playing Missouri Lottery games in 2023,” he added. “Additionally, ticket sales in 2023 allowed the Missouri Lottery to provide more than $388.2 million for elementary, secondary and post-secondary education programs throughout the state.”
