A Missouri Lottery player was happily surprised to find out his winning “$1,000,000 Cash Extravaganza” Scratchers ticket actually held a prize 10 times greater than he thought it was, bringing his prize total up to $1 million.
The winning ticket was purchased at Schnucks Market, 5055 Arsenal St., in St. Louis.
“I thought it had said $100,000, and I asked the lady at the counter, ‘Could you check this ticket for me?’” the winner shared. “She checked it, congratulated me, and gave me a pat on the back and said ‘Happy New Year’s.’”
The winner then asked how much he had won, and the clerk informed him it was $1 million.
“I looked at it again because I thought it was a dream,” he shared.
The winner plans to continue working, as well as use the winnings to get his car fixed and buy another vehicle.
In FY23, players in St. Louis City won more than $57 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $4.7 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $10 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
