A husband and wife in St. Charles County are still finding it hard to believe they won $100,000 on a Missouri Lottery “$100,000 Diamond Dazzler” ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at Huck’s Food Store, 328 S. Main St., in O’Fallon.
“He brought me it, and I liked the way it looked, so I scratched the whole front,” the wife said.
At first, she thought she hadn’t won, but then she flipped the ticket over to the second play area on the back.
“The first place I scratched off said $20,000, so I turned to my husband and made a joke, and he said, ‘No, I think you’ve won!’” she said.
After scratching off the rest of the ticket and realizing she had possibly won the $100,000 prize, she told him to check the ticket to see if it was a winner.
“My heart was in my throat!” she said. “I still don’t believe it.”
This is the second top prize won on the $5 game so far. Over $13.8 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including four more top prizes of $100,000 and two prizes of $20,000.
In FY23, players in St. Charles County won more than $63.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $6.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $6.3 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
