A last-minute stop for an energy drink turned into a $77,777 surprise when a Missouri Lottery player bought a “Triple Red 777” Scratchers ticket at East Edge Express, 4787 East Liberty St., in Mexico.
The winner was on his way to visit friends when he made the lucky stop, quickly realizing how much he had won while scratching the game’s play area.
“I saw the 29 and scratched it off and saw the sevens. I was like, ‘That’s a lot of sevens,’” the winner laughed.
He shared plans to invest his prize money.
“Triple Red 777” is a $10 ticket, which prizes ranging from $10 to $777,777. To date, more than $20 million has been won in the game. More than $13.2 million in prizes remain unclaimed, including a top prize of $777,777 and another $77,777 prize.
In FY23, players in Audrain County won more than $4.9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $487,600 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $828,800 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
